Raymond O’ Rourke is a qualified Barrister and a specialist food regulatory lawyer. He worked for many years in legal firms both in Dublin and Brussels. Prior to that he worked in Brussels at the European Parliament and also for the European Consumers Association (BEUC). He now has his own practice in Dublin.
He has written two books European Food Law (3rd edition) (2005) [Thomson/Sweet & Maxwell] and Food Safety & Product Liability (2000) [Palladian Law Publishing]. He was named as one of the Top 500 Life Sciences Lawyers in Europe in the “Life Sciences Industry Report 2000”. He is a frequent contributor to legal periodicals, speaks at various conferences on food and life sciences issues, has advised the Latvian, Estonian & Czech Republic governments on food law issues under the auspices of the EU’s PHARE programme and is a Correspondent for the Food Law International Bulletin. In 2006 he wrote a national food law for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the auspices of the UNDP.
