John F. Blakney is a partner in the Ottawa office of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP where his practice focuses on administrative law and federal regulation of business conduct including pricing, market entry, product approval, design, and safety, competition and international trade, with a particular emphasis on the communications, food and drug sectors. His preferred areas of practice include food and drug regulation, telecommunications and broadcasting regulation, competition law, marketing practices law, international trade regulation, government procurement, transportation regulation, and federal environmental regulation He was admitted to the Bar (Ontario) in 1978 and received his LL.B, Masters of Urban and Regional Planning, and B.A. (Hons) in Economics from Queen’s University. Mr. Blakney is a regular contributor to the Canadian Competition Record, panelist and speaker at numerous conferences on communications regulation, and past seminar leader, Bar Admission Course, Public Law Curriculum.
